Voice to Parliament
Wyanga Aboriginal Aged Care as an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation supports the recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the Constitution through a Voice to Parliament.
Our vision is to strive for best practice in delivering culturally appropriate services and quality care for our Elders – those who have fought so hard for us and form the backbone of our communities.
Since our foundation in 1996, despite all our success, working within the instability of government and political cycles has made it difficult to be as resourced as we should be for our Elders. Convincing successive government departments of the need for necessary, culturally appropriate care for our people within the mainstream system is tedious, expensive and time-consuming.
Wyanga believes, through the Voice, having the stability to inform service delivery for our people by representatives from our communities will enable us and other local Aboriginal organisations to continue to thrive and grow.
